Sadly, research shows that the majority of people give up on their New Year’s resolutions by January 12. Yes, just 12 days into the new year, most people are already tossing in the towel when it comes to changing ways and adopting new habits. We’ve got an idea to help you stay the course – resolve to camp each month and we’ll provide you the perfect destination:
January: Head to Palm Springs and experience the excitement of the Palm Springs International Film Festival (check psfilmfest.org for annual dates) as well as the serenity of the surrounding desert. Book a stay Palm Springs Oasis RV Resort or Palm Springs RV Resort and enjoy the festival as well as hikes in the desert. Check out The Living Desert for a great hiking location.
February: Batter up – it’s spring training time! Book a stay at the Orlando RV Campground and make it your home base while checking out games in the area. Orlando hosts the Atlanta Braves Spring Training Camp and Lakeland (about an hour’s drive) is the winter home for the Detroit Tigers. There’s plenty of baseball to be had in Florida during spring training season – check out mlb.com.
March: Verde Valley and the Vortex! Come stay with us at the Verde Valley RV Campground and explore the vortex world (known to promote healing and self-exploration) in the nearby Red Rock country. Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock are two of the most known vortices.
April: It’s tulip time in Washington’s Skagit Valley. Book a stay at Mt. Vernon RV Campground and experience this truly beautiful time of year when millions of tulips burst into bloom in the fields throughout the Skagit Valley.
May: Two major May events include the Kentucky Derby and the Indy 500. Plan an early May stay with us at Diamond Caverns RV Campground to experience Derby fun and the Kentucky horse country and then make road trip north to Indian Lakes RV Campground to be in proximity to all the Indy 500 hoopla!
June: Gone fishing! Take advantage of our locations that are ripe for fishing with onsite lake access. Consider booking a stay at Hidden Cove RV Campground (AL), Lake of the Springs RV Campground (CA), and Chestnut Lake RV Campground (NJ).
July: Stay close to Boston, the birthplace of the American Revolution, where our glorious independence first took root, and book a stay at Gateway to Cape Cod RV Campground. About an hour outside of Boston, you can spend your days exploring the Cape (bike riding is key here) and head into Boston for some great history (don’t miss the Freedom Trail!).
August: Start the month off camping at Moody Beach RV Campground and catch the tail end (no pun intended) of the Maine Lobster Festival in Portland (it runs July 29 to August 2). In addition to the lobster, there is also a seafood cooking contest, arts and crafts, live entertainment, and a parade.
September: Looking to celebrate Oktoberfest? Cincinnati, Ohio, has one of the best in the country so plan to stay with us at Wilmington RV Campground to raise a stein, down a bratwurst or two, and listen to the sounds of an oompah band!
October: Are you a Leaf Peeper? Oregon and Washington offer some spectacular color shows this time of year. Consider a stay at Crescent Bar RV Campground in Washington for the Columbia River Gorge area color show or Mt. Hood RV Campground to take in the colors of the Mt. Hood National Forest.
November: Celebrate Thanksgiving Colonial Style and plan a stay at Williamsburg RV Campground, just minutes from Virginia’s Historic Triangle, which includes Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement, and the Yorktown Victory Center.
December: Leavenworth, Washington, is consistently voted one of the best holiday towns in the US. Experience the magic of the season with a visit to Leavenworth and stay with us at the Leavenworth RV Campground. The Leavenworth Christmas Lighting Festival is a must-see!
