Plan to head south to Florida this season and don’t miss these events that are near to our three Florida campgrounds, Orlando RV Campground, Peace River RV Campground, and Three Flags RV Campground.

Gasparilla Pirate Fest

This Tampa event was started in 1904 and celebrates Jose Gaspar, aka Gasparilla, a mythical Spanish pirate who made the area his headquarters in the early 1800s. Live entertainment, on four stages, along Tampa’s Riverwalk is just some of the fun featured at this event which will be held on January 26-27, 2019. The main event is the Pirate Invasion! Check out gasparillafest.com for more information. The Tampa Riverwalk is about an hour from Orlando RV Campground; an hour and a half from Peace River RV Campground; and about an hour to an hour and a half from Three Flags RV Campground.

St. Pete Beach Seafood & Music Festival

The event title says it all – you can expect seafood and music at this fun gathering set for February 1-3, 2019 in downtown St. Pete. Plan for three days of food booths (not just limited to seafood) and live music from a variety of genres including jazz, rock, blues and island sounds. Festival details can be found at seafoodfestivals.com. St. Pete Beach is about an hour and a half from Three Flags or Peace River.

For more food fun, check out SeaWorld’s Seven Seas Food Festival which will run weekends beginning February 2, 2019. Craft brews, wines, and spirits, a variety of food offerings and live music make this a must-do this winter. SeaWorld Orlando is a 30 to 40-minute drive from Orlando.

Football fans will be excited about the Pro Bowl Skills Showdown to be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on January 23, 2019. National Football League players will show off their skills at this unique sporting event. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Additionally, there is a week-long list of events at the facility to celebrate 2019 Pro Bowl Week. Visit espnwwos.com for more information. The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is about a 25-30 minute drive from Orlando; about an hour and a half from Peace River; and just over an hour drive from Three Flags.

Of course, no visit to Florida is complete without visiting a citrus grove. Consider the Showcase of Citrus in Clermont where you can tour a grove, pick your own and do a little wine tasting and shopping. There is also a small farm with goats, chickens, pigs, and a kangaroo! Admission is free! Go to showcaseofcitrus.com for more details. The Showcase of Citrus is located about 40-50 minutes from Three Flags and only 10 minutes from Orlando.

Speaking of fruit, celebrate the tiny kumquat at the Annual Kumquat Festival in Dade City. Scheduled for January 26, 2019, the festival will feature kumquat pie, kumquat cookies, kumquat ice cream…you get the picture. In addition to all things kumquat, there will also be a car and truck show, live entertainment, a farmer’s market, and food offerings from local restaurants. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information visit dadecitychamber.org. Dade City is about 45 minutes to an hour from Three Flags or Orlando.
