Whether your nest has recently emptied or your first honeymoon was botched by a bout of food poisoning, give yourself an excuse to rekindle the flame by going on a second honeymoon. When you’ve got a Thousand Trails membership, you can travel all over the country whether you come up with excuses to do so or not. Check out these options for second honeymoon ideas near Thousand Trails campgrounds!

  1. Orlando

Toast to another year of love with your partner aboard a champagne experience on the Orlando Eye. Taller than the Statue of Liberty, this larger than life ferris wheel lifts visitors 400 feet into the sky for a picturesque view of Central Florida and its skyline, theme parks, and lush landscape. If you want to go all out, rent a private capsule experience and enjoy the ride aboard The Eye, just the two of you. The Orlando Eye is just a short, 30-minute drive from Orlando RV Resort.

No doubt about it, fireworks are the ultimate romantic symbol. The folks at Walt Disney World have several epic firework displays every day that they are open. Whether you catch the “Wishes” spectacular at the Magic Kingdom where color and light burst over Cinderella’s castle, or “Illuminations: Reflections of Earth,” a 13-minute display of perfect pyro synchronization taking place every evening at Epcot, sparks will fly! Orlando RV Resort is just a 25-minute drive from the Walt Disney World Parks.

  1. Rhode Island

Though Jamestown, RI is typically a summer destination, heading there in the fall can also be quite beautiful and romantic. A must-see is the Beavertail State Park which is known for its beautiful vistas along the coastline. With such a beautiful place, you’ll find that it’s so easy to capture a beautiful photo with your significant other to remember this romantic trip. There are four overlooks that can be accessed by foot and the park provides saltwater fishing, hiking trails, plus a naturalist program that attracts hundreds of people each year. After exploring the coastline, head out to Providence to dine in one of its high-class restaurants, like the famous Camille’s, which has the perfect romantic setting for a second honeymoon. Explore the Riverwalk or catch a show at the Providence Performing Arts Center where they feature touring Broadway musicals, as well as contemporary artists. Providence, RI is about a 45-minute drive from Gateway to Cape Cod where you can park your rig or stay in a log cabin to enhance your rustic, romantic getaway.

  1. California Wine Country

Sonoma County is often referred to as the “Tuscany of the US” for its abundance of vineyards and picturesque scenery of rolling hills and big blue open skies. Sonoma County is also a perfect place to spend with your significant other as you taste wines and enjoy world-class culinary experiences. Iron Horse Vineyards is a family-owned winery in Sonoma County known for its affordable and intimate tastings, making it a great place to plan a special tasting for two. The town of Healdsburg, CA, just 20 minutes from Russian River, is the perfect place for a second honeymoon. The whole town is totally focused on fine dining, fine wines, and enjoying luxurious experiences. There are also plenty of opportunities for biking on back roads, picnicking under towering Redwood trees, or canoeing along the Russian River which runs right through Healdsburg. Whether you pull up your rig or opt for a cozy cottage, Russian River is a great place to shack up with your partner while visiting Sonoma County.

  1. Cruise the River in Cincinnati

Treat your S.O. like royalty in Cincinnati, “The Queen City.” Climb aboard the BB Riverboats in Newport, Kentucky, which cruises daily on the Ohio River, and provides dinner, drinks, and dancing for an unforgettable honeymoon experience on the water. Or, catch a show at the Contemporary Arts Center where artists and musicians from all over the world have showcased. Indian Lakes is less than an hour drive from the heart of Cincinnati and has several cozy cottages for rent. With a firepit for roasting marshmallows, a refrigerator for storing late-night snacks, and heat and A/C to keep you comfortable, the amenities in these cottages will make you feel as if you’re right at home.

  1. Willamette Valley, OR

The Pacific Northwest is truly magical. Year-round, this place is lush with evergreen trees and provides its residents with incredible outdoor adventures via the gorgeous mountain ranges and endless hiking trails. This region is also a destination for couples seeking a bit of romance with their excursions. The Willamette Valley is like an underdog rival of France when it comes to pinot noir. The climate in the Willamette Valley mimics that of the regions in France famous for their accessible red wines. Saffron Fields Vineyards has often been described as “zen,” “artistic,” and “modern” for its beautiful reflective ponds and contemporary architecture. Make your romantic getaway even more memorable when you stay at a tiny house at the Mt. Hood Village. These tiny homes have big personalities -featuring colorful exteriors and clever interiors that will make your experience even more special.

Make your next Thousand Trails adventure all about you and your sweetie by taking a second honeymoon.
