The Ohio State Fair is similar to your typical state fair in that it’s got games, prizes, and oh yes, funnel cake. However, this state fair has certainly got some quirky competitions! For the third year in a row, beardsmen from all over the Midwest participate in the Old Familiar Beard Bash Competition to show off their facial hair in categories like “natural” and “freestyle.” If you think you’ve got the beard it takes to win, you can still enter this contest on ohiostatefair.com! There are also two art competitions that encourage participants to use recycled materials. Be sure to check out the other activities like the pig races, butter sculptures, educational exhibits on farm animals and agriculture, a presentation from the Ohio State Beekeepers Association, and the famous All-Ohio State Fair Band. Admission prices vary ($6 – $25) so be sure to check the website for ticketing information. The Ohio State Fair takes place at the Ohio Expo Center, approximately 68 miles from Wilmington RV Campground.
