This year for Memorial Day Weekend, why  skip the traditional parade and head out to some of these events happening near Thousand Trails campgrounds to kick off the summer!

Rondout Valley RV Campground (NY)

The 4th Annual Uke Fest and Concert is a family-friendly retreat for ukulele players of all ages and skill levels, complete with jams, workshops, and concerts featuring Del Rey, Ben Hassenger, Stuart Fuchs, Rachel Manke, Paul Hemmings, and Gerald Ross. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $10 for youth with an online advance purchase and higher prices on the day of the concert and the main concert is Saturday night at 8pm.. The Festival will take place at the Ashokan Center in Olivebridge, NY located 30 minute drive south of the Rondout Valley RV Campground. The Ashokan Center is an educational retreat center with a mission “to teach, inspire and build community through shared experiences in nature, history, and the arts.” Visit ashokancenter.org for more information.

Bend- Sunriver (OR)

In Bend, Oregon, there is always a lot to see and do! This year, witness one of the “must-attend” events for youth baseball teams in Oregon – the Bend Elks Memorial Day Baseball Tournament! Hosted by the Bend Elks Baseball club, this 3 day event supports amateur baseball in bend, with all ticket proceeds going towards Vince Genna Stadium is located 25 minutes north via US-97 N of the Bend-Sunriver RV Campground. Since 2005, the Bend Elks Baseball Club has put on the tournament in cooperation with Bend-area high school baseball programs and the Bend Metro Park and Recreation district. Morgan Hill RV Campground (CA)

Start your summer off with the blues… but not sad kind of blues, that is. Buddy Guy headlines the Santa Cruz American Music Festival, taking place this year on Memorial Day weekend in Aptos, CA, just 40 minutes west of Morgan Hill RV Campground! Two full days of blues, Americana, and country music to kick off the summer with a bang. Buddy Guy plays the Saturday night blues show for his 80th Birthday Tour, and on Sunday, Josh Turner headlines the country lineup. The event takes place at Aptos Village Park, which has been host to great music acts like, Bonnie Raitt, Los Lonely Boys, Big & Rich, and more, for more than 23 years! The festival aims to “honor the diverse nature of Traditional Americana Music by bringing world-class artists together for two fun-filled days of live music…” Expect food and drink booths, a children’s area with face painting and balloon twisting, plus an artist’s booth where you can meet some of the festival artists and get autographs.
