Lake & Shore RV Resort – Ocean View, NJ

July 4th doesn’t have to just be about a three-day weekend, eating hotdogs, and fireworks. This summer, visit some of our nation’s most patriotic places! Though visiting some of these monuments as part of a patriotic trip may seem a bit obvious, maybe it’s returning to some of those classic places that will reignite your love for your country this July 4!

Freedom Trail, Boston MA

On the East Coast for Independence Day? Check out the Freedom Trail in Boston, MA. The Freedom Trail was created in the 1950s by concerned Bostonians determined to preserve the historical significance of the American Revolution. It is marked with a painted red line on the ground and takes you on a 2.5 mile walk through downtown Boston. It’s a trail that’s very easy to do on your own or, take a scheduled guided walking tour and enjoy a richer educational experience. Boston is just 1.5 hours from Gateway to Cape Cod and Sturbridge RV Resort, while it’ll be less than an hour drive from the Tuxbury Pond RV Resort.

Liberty Bell, Philadelphia, PA

The Liberty Bell is undeniably recognized as a great symbol of independence and American patriotism. First rung to mark the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 8, 1776, the Liberty Bell is now located at Independence National Historic Park in Philadelphia, PA. There are a few theories out there on how and when this giant bell was actually cracked, but you’ll have to visit the monument to find out for yourself! Scotrun RV Resort, Spring Gulch RV Resort, and Sun Valley RV Resort are the closest campgrounds to Philadelphia, PA.

Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, NY

America is a true melting pot of all kinds of people from all kinds of places. No other American symbol represents this notion like the Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island. Ellis Island, a park included in our national park system is easy to reach by Ferry and you can take off either from Battery Park in NY or Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Once you reach the island, you’ll no doubt marvel at how close you are to Lady Liberty and maybe you’ll even be curious enough to look up any relatives of yours who may have passed through this historic place, which served as the nations busiest immigration inspection station in the late 1800s to the mid-1900s. Ellis Island and NYC is located about 2 hours from Rondout Valley RV Campground, Scotrun, Chestnut Lake RV Campground and about 2.5 hours from Lake & Shore RV Resort.

Mount Rushmore, Keystone, SD

Mount Rushmore is undeniably one of the most famous American national monuments. Looking upon the faces of American presidents, Lincoln, Washington, Roosevelt, and Jefferson, is like seeing a real-life patriotic postcard and seeing it day or night can be quite spectacular (there’s a light show at night!) The faces were chiseled by hand after workers blasted through 800 lbs of rock with dynamite. The sculpture took more than 14 years to complete and it’s expected that these faces will still be visible after 100,000 years! The modern visitor center is also a fantastic way to learn more about this historic place and how this mountainous sculpture was built! Though there aren’t any TT campgrounds within a 2 hour drive, this monument is still worth a trip.

Tell us how you enjoyed your visit to some of the most Patriotic places in the USA!
