Oil up those gears, dust off those handlebars, and get ready to ride because May is National Bike Month! This month, TT has highlighted some of the best trails around the Thousand Trails and Encore campgrounds we think you’ll enjoy. Let us know if you head out on any of these and be sure to snap lots of pictures on the way! We’d love to see how you are celebrating National Bike Month!

Oak Leaf Trail

The Oak Leaf Trail trail is unique in that it weaves in an out of the city of Milwaukee, WI for over 100 miles and is a great way to see both the city in the springtime and great midwestern scenery in full bloom. Be sure to make a pitstop in the city of Milwaukee for a sampling of their famous cheese and beer, or simply head out on the trail for an easy ride on this paved trail. Oak Leaf Trail is just a short drive from Plymouth Rock Camping Resort.

Pumpkinvine Nature Trail

Named for it’s numerous curves and turns, the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail is a welcoming biking or walking trail for adventurers of all experience levels. This trail is particularly gorgeous during the turning of the seasons. Expect the trees and flowers to be in full bloom this May and good news- it’s located just under 40 minutes drive from the Twin Mills RV Campground.

Windsor Locks Canal State Trail

The Windsor Locks Canal State Trail This 4.5 mile trail is located just an hour drive from the Sturbridge RV Resort in Sturbridge, MA. This trail takes you on a tour along the Connecticut River to see beautiful stone bridges and aqueducts. Also look out for the wildlife around here – you’re bound to see some friendly critters!

Vernon Rails to Trails

Also located near the Sturbridge RV Resort campground is the Vernon Rails to Trails. Imagine a dirt road lined with tall trees that winds and twists along rivers, through the woods, and over aqueducts. Pretty awesome, right? This trail is simply beautiful and does not lack in scenery.

Historic Railroad Trail

Not every activity in Las Vegas has to involve a trip to the casino or partying at a night club. The area surrounding Las Vegas is rich with outdoor activities that have nothing to do with gambling. The Historic Railroad Trail, located just 30 minutes from the Las Vegas RV Resort in Boulder City, NV, will take you alongside the southern shores of Lake Mead. Unlike those Las Vegas photos you probably rather keep to yourself, the pictures you snap from your ride on The Historic Railroad Trail will be ones you won’t want to stop showing your friends!
