Winter Differently: Palm Springs

November 7, 2014 by thousandtrails

Tucked in Coachella Valley, Palm Springs is drenched with 354 days of sunshine every year and is known for its world-class golf courses, fashionable shops, and mountain vistas. Just outside of Palm Springs, you can stay at Palm Springs RV Resort, which is located in Palm Desert or Palm Springs Oasis RV Resort, an age-qualified Encore RV Resort located in Cathedral City.

Canadians Ursula Funke and her husband Doug Covell consider Palm Springs RV Resort as their winter home away from home. “We travel six months down south. We used to travel around to different RV parks but now we stay strictly at Palm Springs,” Ursula said.

Ursula and Doug lease a site with a park model, which includes their own phone and Internet service. “We prefer Palm Springs because it is more central,” Ursula explained. “When you get older you want to make sure you have all amenities close to you. Plus, I have always loved Palm Springs because it’s smaller compared to many other parks and the staff has always been extremely friendly and the preserve is well managed.”

Doug is an avid motorcycle rider and enjoys riding with other motorcycle enthusiasts. Ursula says she prefers to swim and take walks with their dog, Nugget. “The friendliness towards pets here is outstanding,” Ursula said. “Everyone here knows Nugget because he always in front of our site and never walks away.”

Palm Springs keeps snowbirds busy with weekly bus trips to destinations such as Quartzsite and Algodones, Mexico. Pickleball, horseshoes and pool are a few of the most popular weekly pastimes.
