Ok, so you’ve got your pumpkins all carved and a big bowl of seeds waiting to be baked up. Why not try a twist on the traditional pumpkin seed recipe and try one of these tasty tricks from chow.com.
Basic Pumpkin Seeds Roasting: Heat oven to 375 degrees. Toss cleaned/washed seeds with 2 teaspoons vegetable oil. Spread out on cookie sheet and bake 10-15 minutes.
Here’s where the fun comes in:
For a spicy seeds: remove baked seeds from oven and toss with mix of 1 tablespoon jalapeno salt and 2 teaspoons of kosher salt.
For sweet seeds: remove baked seeds from oven and toss with mix of 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon.
For the BBQ lover: (Note: toss seeds with seasoning before baking.) Toss seeds with 1 tablespoon barbeque seasoning, 2 teaspoons kosher salt and 2 teaspoons vegetable oil. Roast on baking sheet stirring every 5 minutes.
For the pumpkin lover: removed baked seeds from oven and toss with mix of 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg and 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice.
