Sturbridge, MA

Northeast Zone

If it’s fall fun you’re seeking there’s plenty to do; from apples to pumpkins, it’s all there for you. A festive Oktoberfest just might do the trick, if a fall full of fun heads up your list. See what’s on tap near your favorite preserve!

Plan a stay at Moody Beach in Maine and enjoy Punkinfiddle, an event in nearby Wells that celebrates the richness of Maine’s coast estuaries and cultural traditions. Punkinfiddle features games, traditional arts, music, hands-on activities, food, farm animals, a scavenger hunt, and crafts. The event is held at Laudholm Farm, which is located less than 10 minutes from the Moody Beach preserve. Come enjoy this traditional event and celebrate Maine on Saturday, September 28.

If you’re planning to take in the fall colors of Massachusetts with a stay at Sturbridge, you won’t be far from the 34th annual Apple Squeeze and Harvest Festival in nearby Lenox. Running September 28-30, the event features food, rides, shopping, and live music. For more information visit www.lenox.org.

Polka music, keg toss competitions, plenty of schnitzel and wursts – that’s what you’ll find at Pennsylvania’s Mifflinburg’s annual Oktoberfest, scheduled this year for October 4-5. Mifflinburg is ideally located near all of our PA preserves – plan a stay with us and in under two hours you’ll be singing “Ein Prosit” with the rest of the revelers.

On the Calendar

Enjoy a weekend at Moody Beach in Maine and take in the fall colors during Leaf Peeper Weekend, which includes a guided hike to Mt. Agamenticus, the highest point in southern Maine. Plan your visit for October 12 to be a leaf peeper.

If fall crafts are your thing come to Scotrun in Pennsylvania during the weekend of October 12-13 and participate in their Marathon Crafting Spectacular, plus enjoy a corn maze and other fall fun.

Spend some time at Timothy Lake North and South in Pennsylvania on October 18-20 for the Little Camp of Horrors!  Activities include face painting, pumpkin painting, arts and crafts, a ghost hunt, site decorating contest, pumpkin patch, trick or treating and more.  The following weekend is expected to be just as spooktacular.
