Southwest Zone – August 2013

August 9, 2013 by thousandtrails

SWSo what makes our Southwest Zone FUN, full of ADVENTURE, and FAMILY oriented, providing a sense of PEACE and HAPPINESS to all? Here’s what we found out:

Pio Pico – Jamul, CA
There is only fun here at Pio Pico with our ever-changing weekly events. Come on an adventure and participate in our Walk the Trails challenge. Surround yourself at Pio Pico with our peaceful rolling hills. Bring your family to Pio Pico for our weekend Movie & Popcorn on the Lawn.

Rancho Oso – Santa Barbara, CA
Fun is exploring new trails in the forest at Rancho Oso with my family and dogs.
Happiness is watching the wild turkeys with their young in the spring.
Family = telling tales around the campfire and creating new s’mores recipes.
Peace is watching the cattle with their new born calves out in the pasture.

Verde Valley – Cottonwood, AZ

Bring the whole family out to Verde Valley for a fun camping experience. Take a hiking adventure along the Verde River or throughout our many trails within the preserve and enjoy the many scenic views Verde has to offer. Enjoy the peace and quiet (no sirens, road noise) through an audio experience of many different bird species’ sounds intertwined with the calming effects of the Verde River.

On the Calendar

It’s Oktoberfest Weekend at Idyllwild August 23-25. Plan on a fun-filled weekend with German crafts, games and of course, beer tastings at the Pine Cone Cafe. Sandi Castleberry and the Girls will entertain on Saturday night at the amphitheater.

Lake Minden will host their Sandtastic Beach Party August 23-25. Join the fun on Friday night for Hoagie Sandwich Potluck Social. Then, grab a bucket and enter a Sand Castle building competition. Test your skills at the water balloon toss and hula hoop contest or play a lively game of volleyball. Cool off at the Ice Cream Social with a Root Beer Float.
