Northwest Zone – Upcoming Events

Whether you’re enjoying the Northwestern beauty in British Columbia or the USA, you’re sure to find a plethora of great hikes along the way. If you’re staying at Cultus Lake in British Columbia, be sure to take a trip to Cultus Lake Provincial Park and explore the 5 different hiking trails available there. From a trail that takes 30 minutes to complete, to one that can last up to 5 hours, hiking enthusiasts are sure to hit the perfect trail at the Cultus Lake Provincial Park. Bend and Central Oregon boast 17 hiking trails in the area, ranging from beginner to intermediate trails. With mountains, lakes, waterfalls and caves, you’ll take in beautiful sights during your hiking trip through Bend. Plan on being a bit more coastal on your trip or Oregon? Those visiting Whalers Rest in Newport, will find numerous short hiking trails along the coast to keep busy. Give the Quarry Cove Trail a try and check out the tide pools.

While spending time in Washington, take some time to hike your way through Mt. Vernon Preserve. The Padilla Bay Trail is ideal for all skill levels and offers great bird watching for its visitors. The Oyster Dome Trail also stands as a highlight for the Mt. Vernon/Bow area, showcasing beautiful views of Puget Sound. Upcoming Events

September 22: Harvest Celebration at Pacific City Preserve, Cloverdale, OR.

September 28-30: Rev up your motors for “NASCAR Weekend” at Whalers Rest, South Beach.

September 29: Harvest Festival, just 15 miles from Mt. Vernon Preserve at Skagit River Park, Burlington, WA. Event features medieval-type machines hurling pumpkins through the air, zucchini races, pumpkin painting, food vendors, a pie eating contest and children’s activities. October 5-6, 12-13 and 19-20: The world famous Bavarian Village of Leavenworth has one of the best Oktoberfests in the world! Event features live music, a Wine Festival, Leaf Festival, Theatrical Plays and Musicals, plus great food & great beer! Event is just a short 25-30 minute drive to from the Leavenworth, WA preserve.

October 26-28: “Spooktacular” Weekend at Grandy Creek, Concrete, WA

October 27: 3rd Annual Haunted Forest at Chehalis Preserve, Chehalis, WA.

September is best at Cultus Lake because the salmon are coming back up the Vedder/Chilliwack River. Chinook, Coho and Chum Salmon are easily caught off the shore with minimal gear. ~ Norman Case, Property Manager
