M is for May as well as plenty of events scheduled both at our preserves and nearby. Of course, Mother’s Day and Memorial Day events are lined up preserve-wide and here’s a few more “M” events for you to ponder.
If you’re visiting Ponderosa Preserve in Lotus, California, The Motherlode Century Amazing Bike Ride, is an annual event held each year the weekend before Memorial Day that takes bicyclists through El Dorado County’s most beautiful landscapes. The 31-mile loop is an easy pedal with a fantastic panoramic view of the valley, while the 67 and 100-mile loops add a remote canyon with two rewarding climbs and awe-inspiring scenery. For information call (530) 545-0698 or visit www.motherlodecentury.com
If you’re heading to Massachusetts, here are two events near our MA preserves. If you are visiting Gateway to Cape Cod, anytime from May 18 through June 7, visit the “Harbor Your Arts – Artists Shanties Open!” event, where you can visit individual artists to view and purchase their unique works, including paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, stained glass and more. Weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. From June 7 through Labor Day, the event is daily. For information call (508) 862-4678 or visit www.hyartsdistrict.com. Or if you’re headed to Sturbridge, consider the Brimfield Antique Show, scheduled for May 8-13. This is the largest antique show in the country – there is something for all, big and small. Food is great and there are long fields of antique treasures. For information call (508) 867-6439.
